ABOUT BELMONT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

 

Located in the North East corner of Prince William County, Belmont Elementary School serves the communities of Belmont, Belmont Bay, a portion of the US Navy Housing facility, and other smaller communities along the Northern route US 1 corridor. Named after the community in which it resides, Belmont opened its doors to students in 1968.

Belmont Elementary School is a relatively small elementary school compared to other Prince William County Schools.  The school serves a diverse population as represented by its diverse attendance area.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Belmont students salute the flag.

Belmont is a Math and Science Specialty school for fourth and fifth graders.  In this program, the state/county objectives are taught with emphasis on mathematics and science.  Students from the eastern half of Prince William County are eligible for this program.  Interested parents can get more information, about this and other programs offered in the county, by going to the Math and Science Specialty web site.

Belmont provides the facility for a before- and after-school child care service, SAC, operated by Prince William County through Minnieland, a day care provider.  Interested parents should click on the Minnieland link on the left side navigation.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

Belmont was the recipient of a state grant made available through the Reading Excellence Act.  This two year grant is valued at $259,923 and provides for teacher aides in the K-3 classrooms, staff development courses for our teachers, continuous assessment for reading and spelling, community involvement and training, and materials to reinforce reading.
