Welcome to the 2010-11 school year!!
Dear Parents and Students,

I am so excited to begin our upcoming school year. I hope all of you had a wonderful summer break and are well rested. I have been very busy getting things ready for September and missing all of our students.   I have been reviewing our test scores from last year and we did an outstanding job. Our staff, students and parents worked so hard and it really paid off.

Our school day is from 8:20-2:50.   The doors will open for students at 8:00 a.m. Attached is a letter asking how your child is going home. Please make sure you complete this form and have your child return it to school on the first day. It is very important for us to know how students are going home. If you are picking your child up for early dismissal, students will not be released from class after 2:40 p.m. Please make note of the time when you arrive for pick up. If you want to pick your child up at dismissal, please request a kiss and ride number so you may pick them up in the back of the building.

We have many events scheduled for the first month of school. Please refer to the calendar attached for event dates and times. We look forward to seeing you all during these events!!!

Our teachers are very excited to meet their new students on September 3rd during Open House.   On the bottom of this letter is a sticker noting your child’s teacher and room number for the upcoming school year. Feel free to bring in your student’s school supplies at this time.

At Belmont, we encourage parents to be actively involved in their child’s education. We offer many opportunities for parental involvement through volunteering, helping to establish our PTSO, and our School Advisory Council. We ask our families to plan on attending and volunteering for a month to help sponsor our fun Friday or other family events for the entire school. With your support, our events can be a great success!

This year, postcards with bus stop information will be mailed to the homes of all students using regular school buses.  Bus schedules will also be posted on the Office of Transportation Services’ web site (pwcs.edu/departments/transport) in the next few weeks. In addition to viewing these schedules on the Web site, parents can also obtain a printed copy in our main office. If your student will be a bus rider, we encourage parents to send their students to school on the bus for the first day so we can identify who rides which bus to ensure they get on the correct bus at the end of the day. Please remember to have your child at their bus stop five minutes prior to the time listed. Also, due to traffic patterns, students may arrive home five to ten minutes after the drop off time noted.

Again, we welcome all of you to our school year and look forward to an awesome year. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Bridget Outlaw, Principal
